Sir Lift Aloft
Agastache Collection - Tangled Up in Hue
Agastache Collection - Tangled Up in Hue
Early one evening, the sun was glowing
I was laying on a petal
Wondering if she'd changed at all
If her sky was still red
And her buildings still tall
Catching rain drops as they fall
Tickling my beak, tying my tongue
Then notes of apricot and mauve came out of the blue
Tangled up in hue
I lived on 22nd Street
In an attic studio five floors up
There was laughter in the streets
And progress in the air
He was new to the city
A head above the rest
With long, chestnut hair
“Hey,” he hummed, “I’d like to see you again”
My feathers fluttered and my heart grew
Tangled up in hue
When will we stop burning coal?
The question burned in his soul
A poem from another century
Dancing in prose
An allegory of forking roads
Written in ink and feathered pen
Lit by flames of lazuli blue
Tangled up in hue
The city doesn’t sleep
She has countless commitments to keep
Too many answers to questions too few
Aiming to sort the reality from the true
It’s 5 am and I’m far from the city,
But I’m up with her all the same
Listening to Wren’s serenade
And contemplating nature’s pending coup
Tangled up in hue
